Behind the Music of Terézia Šofranková

Personal Profile

 

Terézia Šofranková has always been musically gifted. From a young age, she was singing, performing, and playing a variety of instruments. Now she is passionate about developing her technical musical skills and theoretical knowledge, and achieving the next level of success. Terézia Šofranková began learning the violin at age of 5 at the Basic Art School. In 2008 – 2014 she studied as an extra-student at the Conservatory Košice in the class of the Concertmaster of State Philharmonic Orchestra Košice – Karol Petróczi and at the same time she studied at High School. Then she continues her studies at the Prague Conservatory and then she defended her college degree at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the class of the best Czech Violin Teacher Prof. Ivan Štraus.

In addition to her violin studies, she had also been taking lessons of classical voice on Prague Conservatory and gave many vocal recitals. 

 

  Collaborations

As a soloist she appears regularly with The State Philharmonic Orchestra Košice and The State Chamber Orchestra Žilina, Prague Academy Orchestra, Youth Orchestra Musica Juvenalis and others collaborating with conductors like Jiří Bělohlávek, Gergely Ménesi, Herbert Bock, Leoš Svárovský, Stanislav Vavřínek, Karol Kevický, Igor Dohovič. She performed solo-recitals in many Slovak and Czech towns, including the greatest Slovak music open-air festival Bažant-Pohoda in Trenčín. She gave concerts in Brussels within the frame of European Capital City of the Culture. She toured Wien and three Romanian cities: Cluj, Bucharest and Sinaia as a guest-member of Wiener Jeunesse Orchester. She is also perfect chamber player. She is first-violin player at Prague Academy Quartet and also in Piano Trio.

Awards 

Terézia achieved many awards at national and international violin competitions and festivals. Among Terézia´s recent achievements belong the 1st Prize and Special Prize of Mikuláš Zmeškal with her Quartet at International Competition of Bohdan Warchal in playing the bow-string instruments in category Chamber Play – String Quartets. She won the 1st Prize and was described as a Laureate of Music festival Jan Cikker, National Violin competition of Rudolf Országh, Music festival of Ivan Balla and National Violin Workshop Žilina. She won 4th and 5th Prize at International Competition of  Bohdan Warchal in playing the bow-string instruments and Special Prize Master Classes Musica Arvenzis, Solo-Play category. Also she won 2nd Prize at National Violin Competition of Slovak Conservatories. In addition to her appearances as a soloist and recitalist, she performs regularly as a chamber musician. Besides the 1st Prize of her Quartet she won the 1st Prize at Musica Camerata Ján Albrecht with her Piano Trio. Terézia was also awarded a scholarship for Musikferien am Starnberger See mit Julia Fischer. Terézia was three times awarded as a Talent of New Europe by Support programm for young musicians TNE.

Specialization courses

She attended the specialization courses held by violinists like Julia Fischer, Vesselin Paraschkevov, Stephen Shipps, Rudens Turku, Giacomo Tessini and Igor Karsko. In voice specialization she worked under Gabriela Beňačková, Yvona Škvárová and Jiří Kotouč.

As a teacher she attended the specialization course for El Sistema programm by dirigent Bruno Campo.
